The First International Green Skills Training Course Comes to a Close Green Skills Camp 2021

On 16 December 2021, the first international Green Skills Camp 2021 organised by WorldSkills Russia came to a close. The programme offered training in two new skills: Maintenance of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered Equipment and Installation of Photovoltaic Modules. For the first time, the event outlined the profile and identified the key skills of specialists who will be in demand in the new regenerative economy.

The event was attended by participants from 14 countries, including Barbados, Belarus, Brunei, Dominican Republic, India, Kenya, China, Costa Rica, Morocco, Portugal, Russia, the United States, Taiwan and Jamaica.

The training provided the participants with theoretical and practical knowledge about alternative energy sources, such as hydrogen and solar power.

Training in the skill Maintenance of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered Equipment was conducted with the support of InEnergy on 6 December. Its participants learned about consumer-grade autonomous hydrogen fuel cell power supply systems with a capacity of up to 1.5 kW, as well as about the assembly of fuel cells.

At the skill training dedicated to the Installation of Photovoltaic Modules, which took place from 13 to 15 December, the participants acquired theoretical knowledge and underwent practical training, which involved installing supports for a photovoltaic module, assembling a switchboard and commissioning photovoltaic modules. The practical tests were performed at two educational institutions – College of Architecture, Design and Reengineering No. 26 and Moscow State Educational Complex – which are actively involved in training young professionals in this field.

The final event of the training programme was the Green Skills Talk, which was aimed at sharing experiences in training professionals for the needs of the renewable and alternative energy industries.

Speaking at the session were Deputy Head of the National Technological Initiative Skills Centre for New and Mobile Energy Technologies Alexey Payevsky, Associate Professor of the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics under the Higher School of Economics Yevgeny Vyborny, InEnergy expert Yelena Yudintseva, Director of Unigreen Engineering Mstislav Arapov, WorldSkills Russia expert Alexandra Fyodorova and Director of SaveEarth Technologies Abhinav Shukla, an expert from India.

The speakers shared their views on environmental problems related to production, possible ways to solve them, the demand for developing a regenerative economy and for professionals specialising in hydrogen and solar energy, as well as fears and myths associated with the transition to alternative energy sources.

At the end of the session, the experts discussed concrete groundwork for training renewable energy specialists and developing new skills related to this field.
